I was just wondering, does anyone know if marks are deducted for writing r(e^(i.t)) or r.cis(t) during your working for mod/arg complex number questions in the HSC? It's just a helluva lote easier to write than r(cos(t)+i.sin(t)).

As far as I'm concerned r.cis(t) is perfectly valid, as well as Eulers.

I'm not 100% sure though, as I never use it anyways.

The cis notation is perfectly fine.

The euler notation, however, is not in the syllabus. It is often easier to use, however, so if you wish to, feel free to do so. JUST MAKE SURE you add in the line "cis@=e^(i@)" to cover yourself.

u dont need e^i@ for hsc questions

we were taught to use cis and not bother with the other, and its so much easier to continue with ur train of thought anyway
