i hope to get UAI 90-95...i would really like 97 but that is out of my league. My top preferences are going to be Business at UTS, Commerce/Law at Notre Dame, and Commerce/Law at Maquarie.

Notre Dame will not know whether they are going to run night time classes until they run the interviews and ask candidates whether they would use night time classes.

Wage

what sort of wage is everyone on... are you being assisted in your uni fees or just book allowance or both/neither.

will you be getting a payrise half way through the year if your work is satisfactory?

omg...how greedy are you?
give others lik me (without cadetship) a chance!

anyways...apparently you're not suppose to apply if you already have a cadetship... its written on the conditions.

i agree with you, i dont think traniees should bother with the co-ops or anything...although i dont think it is a condition of any contract, it is more a question of morals and ethics. A trainee SHOULD not take a stab at co-ops, but no-one is going to stop them. In saying that, its not as if I am going to crucify anyone that decides to have a go, its all for the experience.

Oh come on!
For accounting, co-ops such as those at UTS and UNSW are the best option! You get to have industry training at two/three professional services firms and enjoy the benefits of full time university! Nearly everyone who applies Coop (according to the lady I was talking to today) also has tried to get a cadetship.

Its not being greedy, its the truth.

With regard to it being immoral and unethical if the companies are kept in the dark - I agree wholeheartedly. I signed my contract conditionally - and EY knows that full and well because I discussed it with them. I mean, considering the fact that they are sponsers for both the UTS and UNSW program as well, even if any of their trainees end up taking Co-op, they win anyway. Its more or less a win-win situation for them - or so the HR person told me.

And anyway, Co--op is a much more competitive field, when compared to cadetships (or so I've been told) so chances are minimum - I mean, 12 places at UNSW and 30 at UTS for Acc? :(:(:(

i dont want to argue here, but it is interesting that you say that the HR person told you there is nothing really wrong with going and taking a Co-op after signing the contract for the traineeship, because i asked the very same thing and i was told it would immoral and unethical.
anyways i am sure that you know what your doing, im in no position to tell you otherwise. :p
