Here is wot i have jotted down for the "recent discoveries of elements" dotpoint :

Recent discoveries of elements
During and after World War II an American team, led by Glenn Seaborg created 10 new elements in an accelerator including neptunium, the first element heavier than uranium, and plutonium, the element used in the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki.

Bohrium-107 was created in 1976 by bombarding Bismuth-209 with ions of Chromium-54.

Hassium-108 was created in 1984 by bombarding Lead-208 with ions of Iron-58 in a linear accelerator.

ok i would like to know how to write the equation to at least one of these new elements... anyone know?

thx

Neptunium-239, plutonium-239 and americium-241 can all be made by the neutron capture - beta decay route:

U-238 + n ---> U-239 ---> Np-239 + e-
Np-239 ---> Pu-239 + e-
Pu-239 + 2n ---> Pu-241 ---> Am-241 + e-

There is a mistake in your notes, as bohrium-107 would imply an atom with 107 nucleons, all of them protons. Similarly for hassium-108. I think you mean the formation of bohrium-262 from bombarding bismuth-209 with chromium-54, in which case the reaction is:

Bi-209 + Cr-54 ---> Bh-262 + n

Other ways to make other isotopes of bohrium have since been developed using berkelium:

Bk-249 + Ne-22 ---> Bh-266 + 5n

and

Bk-249 + Ne-22 ---> Bh-267 + 4n

For hassium-108, I think you mean hassium-265, which is made via:

Pb-208 + Fe-58 ---> Hs-265 + n

so if i have an element followed by a dash and a number does it imply the atomic number or weight?!

eg : Cobalt-60

wait so any one of those elements are considered as recent discoveries?

Check wikipedia - the most recent I could find were 1994.
