For the Civil Engineers:
I went to the advisory thing 2day...
And I asked them about the recognition we get for doing higher maths as opposed to jus maths.
He said that there was no benefit...
A person doing Maths is no less qualified than a person doing higher maths.
They jus get more of a workload... and harder problems...
In light of this information... I changed back to Maths :D
Jus though this info might be useful anyone considering higher maths...

Oh and I'm doin 20 hours with a pretty hectic timetable...
I almost have a day off on Wednesday...
Only one lecture in the morning, Maths 9 till 10 :p
*cough* gunna jig it *cough*

my engineering lecturers said the exact same thing to me at the start of last year when i asked them about higher maths vs normal maths....they said "just do normal maths and get HDs"

some people think normal maths is too easy and want more of a challenge.

well not only that- but others wanna do higher maths if they are doing a double degree with science- coz that can help u acheive an advanced science degree instead of a normal one! :D

i also heard that there's such thing as scaling when u do higher maths!

i also went to the psych. welcome and boy- there was only like 10 boys, and like 50 girls or more. LoL

lungke, which tutorial are you in? were you in the class with surnames A-K because the tutor there said he was only collecting:
2.8, 2.11, 2.12.

Soooooo, basically what you're saying is, if i have the book, i won't need the exercise sheet because they're the same, right? (i'm only freaking out cause i've never been in a class where they collect stuff for marking)

Thanks

i'll probably just do all the questions. no harm right? and especially when you have the answers there in teh book, you at least know what to aim for *nods*

[i'd also just like to point out how much of an IDIOT i am. i was late to the statics leccture so i missed the tutorial questions, i was late to the civil engineering prac lecture so i missed the lecture notes, and i didn't know where my surveying lecture was so i missed that, and missed getting a group together. so hello idiot. grrrr. and so for the last 2 days i've been trying to track down the notes with absolutely no luck. but i guess i dont' need the statics ones anymore with the book.....but yeah, i'm an idiot]
