i've been getin around 50-55% in standard english and i am ranked 22nd/140 in an average school, i was just wondering if i would still get a hsc score of around that range for english or is there a bit of scaling done?

your ranks are pretty good, even if your marks are lower than usual.
depending on your cohort, getting a high band 4 isnt out of the question.

that depends though. It could be higher or lower, so i guess well have to see what she gets when the results come out.
I remember my overall assessment mark for std english was around low 60s, and that got me to 75 in the end.
I guess band is being generous, but even a 70 is still achievable.
Hows studying going for you anyways?

thanks guys i was desperate to scrape in the 60s but u guys got my hopes up, english is my worst subject and im scared its going to pull me down. im doing really well in my other subjects (ranked first in 3+4u maths, physics and chem) and it was just english i was worried about. what is the average mark for standard english anyways?

78 would be a tad high...75% for std eng places you in the top 10% so it wont hurt your UAI that bad.

ill be so happy with 70, happy as in ill cry of happiness lol
ive been playing around with the sam uai thingy and a 70 in english with all my other marks will get me around 95 uai which is insanely good to my standards. way more than i need for commerce at unsw

commerce was 95 last year if i remember at unsw.

but the hsc plus scheme will get me 4 extra points for a band 6 in both 3 and 4 unit maths. I LOVE HSC PLUS
