Hello everyone, Im new here:)
But anyway, for english we and studying 'Women in Context', and Im desperately searching for a related text.
  • It must be a film/tv add/ video clip
  • Preferabbly showing women in contemporary society (80s 90s onwards) in a positive way (as opposed to the 1950s where they stayed at home, husbands property etc)
  • It needs to have techniques/stuff (GOOD ONES) I can write about.
  • In terms of doing a film, my teacher recommended more arthouse, forgein films-the filiming/meaning to it is better
Sorry If Im sounding demanding in any way, but I'd really appreciate help!. Im having a hard time
Thanks so much for any help!

Pleasantville - not ideal but it does show a contrast in women's changing roles from 1950'2 to present. That's all I could think of at the moment haha sorry.

If you're looking for a foreign film 'Amelie' was good. I'm pretty sure it was french.

Stepford Wives - the modern version.

The Virgin Suicides.

There are lots of films out there about strong women. Like Looking for Alibrandi and also Erin Brockovich.

Can't think of any arthouse ones. Maybe 8 Women with Catherine Millett or even Dancer in the Dark? Any von Trier is good.

What about the Royal Tennebaums? Or Sunshine?

Actually it's a film.

It can be an ad or a video clip.

Longer texts give you more information and more subtle information.

Emma the film is great.

Thanks for your help everyone!!
It has to be set in now society but.
I was thinking of maybe doing 'Monster' with Charlize Theron in it, as
- It shows women in unsterotypical roles e.g serial killer (opposed to the 50's)
- Lesbian scenes : wouldnt be filmed in the 50's as it wasn't mainstream until the Feminist period
- She kills men

Hmm it sounds very extreme, but I think it will do the job?

Monster is great.

And Fatal Attraction is fairly similar, as is Million Dollar Baby.
