ok so one of my texts for paper 2 is a play. when i quote parts of the book do i have to mention the act and scene? if i dont would i get penalised?

You don't have to, but it always looks better (and you can get more marks) by providing the Act and Scene number because it gives context to the quote.

Act and Scene numbers get straight to the point. Contextualising it otherwise comes across as just retelling the plot, and it's a waste of words.
