I got 9/15 for first y12 eng task which is slightly below average(~10). I am absolutely fucked and im gonna kms what do I do. Task was worth 25% and my school is also trash (rank 200, usually around 150ish but last year cohort was js rlly trash)

like everyone says, this should be the wake up call to pull up ur rank in the next few ATs, esp. in the trials. u gotta remember that even though its 25%, its only just internals and there's still many more big things coming. I saw someone reply to a very similar post earlier saying that the first task is one of the best ones to flop if youre gonna flop any. good luck bro

This is boutta be me when i get my english mark back next week (or next year the eng faculty is always SLOW AF)

It's only the first task, there's plenty of time to pull your rank up like others say especially when it's only a small part of an internal moderated mark (which will probably increase anyways) that includes wayyyyy more assessments! Another thing to consider is what do you need for the course you're looking at? And be honest with yourself - do you know why you got the mark you got, or do you need help?

You can do it!! Believe in yourself

from what ive heard its usually not worth it bc 1) it scales much worse, 2) its the same amount of work just easier texts and marked less harshly and 3) you're gonna have to get a much better mark than in advanced to get the same atar.

worst idea you could possibly have if you are like "just slightly below average" as you said. std eng is not that much easier than adv and even less interesting. its also like INSANELY hard to band 6 in comparison to eng adv.

dont overthink it, i guarantee you bombing one task is not the end of the world bc in the grand scheme of things you have 3 more internals exams. and also this exam only counts toward 12.5% of your hsc mark if you think abt it. do well in the 87.5% remaining and put this behind you.

nah. It scales horribly and you will get incredibly bored. Not worth it imo.
