hi, i really need some help with empire of the sun and there doesnt seem to be much out there....is anyone doing this text?
im really after some key quotes and explanations on the process of jims journey and the obstacles he faces...
any help appreciated.

there seems to be no information worthwhile that i can find on the net.

hey its probs too late, but i did empire of the sun in yr 10..
and the setting in EOS is of large significance to the development of Jim's character. for example the cholera infested docks where he finds basie.. basie is amoral and as diseased as his environment, an it begins to taint jim as well. it was so long ago i cant rememebr a lot of it, but i do remember that the flash of the atomic bomb was the turning point for jim becoming an adult (we did this text for innocence confronting the audlt world) and when he casts off his belongings so he has nothing to carry is another example of him growing up-- another stage of the journey. the only other imgery i can think of is the beggar at the start--> jims desenitization, and the planes.
