Just take her out to lunch to somewhere nice (if the weather is good).. like... I like Watsons Bay.. you can do it cheaply; catch a ferry across from circular quay and get some takeaway from Doyles.. buy her some flowers and a nice card.

I know its her 18th, but I'm sure she'll also understand that its the middle of exams.. she might not even want to go out herself! Maybe you could just have one big lovely study day!

...or write her a card saying "sorry darling I havent organised anything for today because I thought we'd both be too stressed, but I've got something extra special planned in a few weeks..". it will buy you some time!
