I’ve chosen my electives for first year B med sci at UNSW- as math (not like we had a choice) and psych (because it seemed the most interesting of the others available) However, I had the notion that one should be at least remotely aware of what they’d like to eventually major in and from that work out their electives in correspondence with the prerequisites needed for your major.

However the course descriptors at the online handbook (unless I am blind) are truly unhelpful in this regard.

Being overseas I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of somewhere online that I could find the prerequisites for a major in :

Microbiology and Immunology
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
or perhaps pathology?

(damn they all sound interesting)

Thanks a bunch.

In first year, if you have enrolled in 2 BIOS, 1 MATHS and 2 CHEM courses, you will be fine.

In second year, you need to do BIOC2101, 2201 for Biochem/Mol. Bio majors.
MICR2201, 2011, BIOS2021/2621, BIOC2101 for Microbiology and immunology major.
Path major requires PATH2201 and 3 PATH3XXX courses in third year.

Just check the handbook for more information.

1st year is quite simple

although in 2nd semester, you will need to pass bios1101 to be able to do anat2241 in 2nd year which is a prerequisite for path2201

thats if you wanna major in pathology

Lol heading towards Survivor's subjects is practically the same for me.

Darn, it sounds like alot of freedom as well...seeing its only 4 courses in your third year, so...2 courses per semester.
