yes, you can even major in one, you can pretty much do anything as long as you choose
one of
economics &/orpolitical economy;
and one of
government &/or industrial relations/human resource management.

Then you 'major' in of the above (usually 6 senior units), and minor in the other (2 senior units). This will still leave you room for a 2nd, and even a 3rd major if you plan your degree really, really carefully (hard to do as a 1st year because it takes a while to get your head around pre-requisites, degree limits, etc).

there's no real way to get 3 majors in this degree . maybe when you had less CP to a major, but not anymore. plus there's only X number of units you can do outside the faculty

Ok, deciphering the handbook and whether you can do a language in Bachelor of Economic & Social Sciences.

I presume you went to this page and if you didn't, you should.

Here it says:

To be awarded the Bachelor of Economic and Social Sciences, students shall successfully complete a total of 144 credit points, comprising:

  • Either a major (minimum of 36 senior credit points) or an extended major (minimum of 48 senior credit points) in Economics or Political Economy AND a major or a minimum of 12 senior credit points from Government and International Relations or Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management OR vice versa (either a major or an extended major in Government and International Relations or Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management AND a major or a minimum of 12 senior credit points from Economics or Political Economy)
  • No more than 60 junior credit points
  • No more than 60 credit points from outside the Faculty of Economics and Business
So:

Say you want to do Government, Political Economy and French. (GOVT, ECOP & FRNC)

Each semester we take 4 subject, each worth 6 credit points, for 3 years with 2 semesters per year.

ie. 2(4x6)x 3 = 144 <-- this is the number of credit points you need to complete your degree with.

In First year you take:

First Semester:
GOVT 1XXX
GOVT 1XXX
ECOP 1001
FRNC 1XXX

Second Semester:
GOVT 1XXX
GOVT 1XXX
ECOP 1002/3
FRNC 1XXX

So in first year you've completed 48 credit points, of which 36 are within the faculty.

Second year:

First Semester:
GOVT 2XXX
GOVT 2XXX
ECOP 2XXX
FRNC 2XXX

Second Semester:

GOVT 2XXX
GOVT 2XXX
ECOP 2XXX
FRNC 2XXX

By the end of second year you have:
Fufilled your ECOP quota and do not have to continue with Political Economy.
You have 4 of 6 units required for a GOVT major.
You have 2 of 6 units required for a FRNC major.

Third Year:

First Semester
GOVT 2XXX
FRNC 2XXX
FRNC 2XXX
ANY OTHER SUBJECT YOU WISH HERE - PROBABLY ECOP BUT IF YOU TAKE GOVT THEN YOU CAN GET A DOUBLE MAJOR. IT CANNOT BE FROM OUTSIDE ECON & BUS

Second Semester
GOVT 2XXX
FRNC 2XXX
FRNC 2XXX
OTHER SUBJECT SAME AS ABOVE

By the end of this program you have

36/48 Senior CP in Government thus fufilling a major or double major
12 Senior CP in Political Economyc thus fufilling your degree requirements.
You'll have 36 Senior CP of French, enough for a single major.

You have completed 48 units outside of the Econ & Bus Faculty, which is within the limit.
You have completed a total of 144 credit points.

Stas, is this viable?

I do believe that if you want to take an extra major outside the faculty (in this case, French) you'll have to apply to the faculty specially for it.
