this could have been stopped if the borders were closed to people who have visited afrca

but noooo why on earth would a politician do a sensible thing like that

I assume you mean 'people who have visited the three relevant countries in West Africa', and not just people visiting Egypt.

The problem would never end if the borders were closed. No foreign medical staff or NGOs would ever enter West Africa.

Everything would have been relatively ok if the Liberians and co didn't believe in witchcraft and conspiracy theories so they would've cooperate 100% initially, instead of killing health workers and denying the existence of Ebola :(

I'm curious to see how the New Yorkers are reacting now. Wall street pls

Because you cannot refuse entry to citizens, but you can set up quarantine procedures. We do that here in Aus (if you don't lie on your customs dec).

But that saying, they should use some fucking common sense and check into a hospital for the first 2 weeks just to be safe.

What about the people on the plane that may have had contact with the "potential" carrier?

You can refuse non citizens entry via medical grounds. but realistically a proper quarantine procedure would suffice if its something like ebola. We don't refuse people immigration because of AIDS any more.

That's why asian airports have thermal cameras to detect fevers because of SARS. It was the "scariest" transmittable disease at the time yet no flight bans occur.

Ebola transferability is essentially like an STD, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

That's the biggest gross oversimplification I've seen since... last time you posted on this thread.

In the trolley problem, the ~only~ option is redirecting the trolley.

If there was a third option to quarantine everyone from the railway tracks until the train had passed, that would be the solution everyone would choose.

Dead people with Ebola are still infectious
yes but you would remove them from society and burn them obviously
