Since when to Islamic terrorists use burka's to disguise their identity? Can anyone name one instance where this has occurred? No, because it doesn't fucking happen.
Outlawing the burka on the basis of security reasons is total bullshit, just stop and think about it for at least a minute.

A large majority of terrorist attacks involve EXTREMIST organisations who are (arguably) motivated by religious ideology. THis being the case are the terrorists really going to dress up as women to disguise their identity (the burka is a garment only for women)?

Second of all, a large majority of terrorist attacks (at least those conducted by 'Islamic' extremists) are SUICIDE BOMBINGS. Does anyone really think a suicide bomber is going to be worried about disguising himself to such a degree?

Finally, terrorist attacks account for a ridiculously small portion of the total crime figures in any country, outlawing the burka in public places is not going to make one iota of difference in reducing crime at all. All it's going to do is give a few hardcore right-wingers some peace of mind because they'll know they're 'safe'.
Many chechen suicide bombers in Russia who blew themselves up in Bus, Planes, Train, apartments, and notably the siege of Theatre in Moscow used their Burka dress to conceal their weapons.:bomb:

They took advantage of the leniency of security guards towards women thereby causing ordinary Russians to despise muslim women who wear burka and harass them in Moscow and St petersburg.

There are many instance where terrorist and suicide bombers wear Burka to hide their weapons in Iraq and in Israel.

An Iraqi man trying to evade capture by donning a woman's dress was foiled yesterday morning by Soldiers of 4th Battalion, First Field Artillery Regiment, 3d Brigade, 1st Armored Division.

Soldiers searched the house and found 10 women in the last room. One seemed out of place. Upon taking a closer look, the Task Force Baghdad Soldiers discovered a man wearing a woman's dress.

The ban is intended to remove discrimination. Who want to hire a burka clad woman from tip to toe as a waiter in restaurant? Or which one you prefer to serve you;a burka clad woman whom you can't see her face or a woman with red hot lipstick with texas size smile on her face? :D

there is really no point. All this is going to do is incite more negative reactions from the muslim community.

There need to be less ignorance and more perception and understanding.

You may remember that Pym Fortuyn (the gay, dutch politician) made the argument that if you were a feminist and/or a leftist you shouldn't be for large scale muslim immigration as arab muslim men are shall we say far behind the west when it comes to feminism/gay rights etc..

I mean when you have people that won't shake a woman's hand we know we are talking about medieval, barbarian types who should stick to chopping each others heads off and stoning women for adultery in their own countries. Why anyone who has any feminist sympathies would want to invite idiots like that into their country is beyond me. If the leaders in the dutch muslim community won't shake hands with women what sort of morons must the dutch muslim community be made up of to be led by such idiots?

No, priest do not cover there faces but some (not all) have sexually abused children.
I'm pretty sure alcohol and drugs have caused more trouble than a burka has, why not outlaw them instead?
misbahf, in the future it would be great if you could only bump a 10 month old thread if there is something new to discuss. Bumping a thread merely to comment on a comment of old isn't helpful.

Do you think that it's inconsistent to ban wearing of burqas with "you can't see who's inside" as the reasoning? Are people still allowed to wear those cartoon animal suits? You can't see the face of the person in there either! No more batman or spiderman masks either :p
.
Yeah, you're mostly right I guess. But people don't wear cartoon animal suits and masks all the time and refuse to show their face under any circumstances. So i guess it's different and that first thing I said was a lie.
