Anyone got suggestions for a kick ass drum piece for my HSC? Im open to anything...at the moment im already doing something from Dreamtheatre and Incubus, need one more.

I was just thinking Dream Theatre

If you wanna try something for contrast so you can show that you can drum in different genres, try Buddy Rich or Dave Weckl

There's a drum solo mp3 I've got from Primus just a huge drum solo, the drummer's heaps good, though I don't know the band very well so I don't know if they focus a lot on drumming

Anyways...:)

yeh the drummer from primus is call...his name is Brain...he plays with Gun 'n' Roses now though...i was lookin at somethin by Buddy Rich...but im gonna struggle gettin the full jazz band together...lol...but there is heaps of jazz/funk/fusion stuff out there i would like to do...chambers and the like...problem is i got 2 find blokes good enuf to play the other parts. lol

why not traditional drumming?
i'm doing one of those. though i will have 2 full on piano pieces and one santana guitar. so there's a contrast in it already.
try japanese taiko drumming?

thanks for the suggestions...keep em rolling in...yeh i try incorporate as many drumming styles as i can, like i got the bongos on the side occassionally, wanna get some timbales...but other than that, i cant expand from my drum stool...lol...too difficult to comprehend being away from the kick :p

the Dream Theater song is 'Stream of Consciousness', well obviously only segments of it...basically the first half of the song, with some of the double kick bits from the end hopefully...Im also looking at 'Honor Thy Father'...both songs are from 'Train of Thought'.

yeah, check out a song called kim's dirt by these guys. it has the most rocking drum solo you could ever imagine

also check out their side project, the tren brothers. i think jim white uses a double kick in it
