What hospital would the paramedic be working for on that salary?.... Obviously not too big of a hospital. My cousin is a paramedic and encouraged me to be one. He's currently on his second year and earning around 85k. He works at St Vincents Hospital, Melbourne.

EDIT: But as I said before. It's not about the money in those types of careers. People choose them because they are dedicated to saving peoples lives and love the job

for all those who want to become a doctor..do you really think that all of them actually truly want to be a doctor as much as you and i want to be a pilot?

im sure some would do it for the pay over the actual love of the profession

Well sure, but really they can't all be that cold hearted! You must enjoy your profession, otherwise it isn't anygood doing it anyway.

Being a doctor would leave you with so much responsibility (as would any rescue officer career).... *chokes in agony at the responsibility*... You have someone's life at your hands... . It would be such a euphoria to know that you had actually saved someone's life though.

yeah the majority would probably want to do it for the love of it..but there would be some that want it for the money...

Nice doctors = do it coz they enjoy the job
Mean doctors = do it for money. esp those doctors with the evil stare

nice teachers = care and enjoy their job. There was a teacher who skips lunchtime duty to help students. She got in trouble with the deputy though

true. I wouldnt want to be a doctor though. It would be devastating to know you have the power to save someone's life, but he/she died in your hands

Yes, true - but not for all families, unfortunately.

My Mum makes $57,000 (GROSS, before tax) per annum, yet my Mum and Dad are divorced, Mum has us 75% of the time, Dad earns:


$85,000 gross each year


BUT is $17,000 in Child Support debt. My Mum has to take anti depressants because she wonders if she will ever be able to provide a good life for us, it's really sad and pathetic of my selfish, ignorant father, who although I love him, is a real dickhead sometimes.

My siblings and I don't earn any income because we don't have job, my Dad pays 1/3 of his legally required Child Support payments, so yeah, GDP per capita is not very accurate for normal Australian families, as it is only an AVERAGE.


I study Commerce (Elective) at school (note Mum cannot pay school fees due to Dad not helping her out).

It makes my blood boil and my lip curl in disgust to think that there are thosands of men - and even women - doing what my father (Dad) does.

DISGUSTING men who think of nothing but their MONEY AND ASSETS. I feel like I'm about to be sick.

I feel sorry for you. Ohh well, you can prevent yourself from being like that. Be a great father in the future.

That would crush me.... but to know that you have also tried the best you possibly can sometimes even risking your own life to save another would be good to know....

The following is a true story, otherwise I wouldn't post it:
I know the feeling because infortunately I have had to perform CPR on a drowning mate at the beach once.... he choked.... (thank the lord for the bronze medallion) and I had to use all I could to help him stay with us until the ambo's got there.... HE LIVED!
It is such a heart-wrenching feeling, but comes with so much relief to know that they are okay in the end.

Lol. My DREAM CAREER would to become a veterinarian... the UAI is far too high (98.00+) to get into the course . I have explained that I am passionate about being a vet and I don't want to go through all the transferrals... because I wouldn't want to pay off all the money!

That is why I will go fir my next dream... Civil Engineer. It says in my signature what i want to be. If I was still aiming to be a Vet, it would be in my signature... lol sorry if I confused you but I thought you would understand what i was saying

It's 98 at USyd, but it could be lower in other unis. I think you should aim to be a vet coz you like it.
