Hey guys,

i'm still getting my head around the whole "uni system" :p

anyway, i was at a study camp and i was talking to a uni student doing a double major with education degree. I was wondering "how many units is that?"
It seems like a lot. 2 majors AND education on top of that.
So to become a teacher he said that i would need to do a double major because doing only one major limits you to your teaching ability in certain subjects.

So my question is, Can i do a minor of English and a Major of Ancient history WITH education?
and how much time would that take up to do!?

thankyou :)

It appears from the USYD website that they offer a Bachelor of Education (secondary) combined with a Bachelor of arts. Is this what you are referring to? If it is, it takes 5 years. Here's some info: http://sydney.edu.au/courses/progra...ties-and-Social-Sciences-and-Bachelor-of-Arts. In this

http://sydney.edu.au/education_soci...ergraduate/bed_sec_hss/course_structure.shtml this is another link showing the course structure for the BEd/BA (ie. how many of subjects of an area you have to do).

The other method would be to just do a BA (3 years), the do a Masters in Education (2 years). But this seems to take the same amount of time, so if you are set on teaching, I believe the combined method is the way to go.
