I know, I'm far off from the HSC, but I thought I'd still ask anyways.
I love Donnie Darko, I think it's a really great film with a lot of dark tones. I was wondering if it was a good choice as a belonging text? Has anyone else done it? Also, doe anyone have any notes on Donnie Darko?

Eh, I thought it was pretty good. It was pre-inception mindfuck for me.

Hey man, I did Donnie Darko for a belonging essay we had to do at the end of last year. Its a pretty good film, I didnt do that much work with it and still got 18/20. There are some great themes in it for belonging.
For it i used these statements:
ones own feelings of accpetance correlates directly to their sense of belonging
Our past experiences have a significant impact upon our sense of belonging
The perceptions of society influence how an individual sense of belonging is formed

I know a lot of people that are starting to use this text as a supplementary text for their belonging essay. Just make sure you are able to get a lot out of it in terms of techniques and ideas, then integrate these with your set text and it will be fine. Any supplementary text can work but it's finding those that complement each other and can be used to argue your point in the concise amount of time you have.
