Just wondering if any of you guys know what is happening with the Doha Round?
Did they decide to scrap it, or are they still in negotiation?

doha round has been suspended (until further notice) on 26th of july 2006

dont think there has been any substantial attempt to reopen the negotiations

I still don't get what the Doha Round is.

it's just another round of negotiations between memebrs of WTO (like the Ugurary-watever round), the first time they held it was at Doha (of some country XD)

it has been call a "round for developing countries" because this round focuses on getting a fair go for the LDCs (main reason why it failed miserably i guess)

the aim is to greatly reduce tariffs on argricultural, abolish subsidies on argricultural, allow LDC to make medicine without paying patent in times of emergency etc.etc.. XD .... all the policies in the textbook. =(

it failed because of the triangle dispute between US, EU & Brazil/India. none of them want to give way unless others do so the round collapsed.
