yeah my teacher r saying the same thing. i'm not sure if it is entirely true though. i think a really small percentage of year 11 [prob like 10% or something] does count to you hsc. so i've been told.

No. No. No.

Unless they have DRASTICALLY changed the marking scheme NO year 11 marks will count.

my half yearlies (this coming monday) have variable weightings.

some are 10%, others are 20, 25%
maths is 30% (3u)

d'oh :(

they shouldn't be too hard if you've been studying (of which, i have not been ...)

if your teacher says so too then this could well be true. even if its not true the teachers are the ones who submit the marks, if they say so they can do anything with the marks like using the year 11...

Probably your teacher is saying that to scare you to do work :)

It's recommended that you do not bludge in year 11 anyhow, as many of the skills you build up would be crucial to your survival in year 12. I bludged year 11 totally and played so much games, and it was totally bad when it comes to year 12..

lol ... in the teacher's defence:

maybe it's just a motivating factor,
he WANTS you to do well,

so why not tell a small fib :)

(btw ... they DO count!)
j/k :D

rock on!

its pretty slack to do something like that actually
year 11 should be 20% computer games,20% sport, 50% truanting school and 10% work

yeh.. none of the marks count- that's why you can pick up/drop subjects at the end of yr 11.

HOWEVER in maths, i think 30% of the HSC is based on subjects that you may have done in yr 11. that might be what your taecher was talking about. if not, you have my permission to kick them.

Think of year 11 as a practice.

Its the year for you to experiment with new study techniques and make sure you can handle courses etc. It doesn't count.

Unless of course you get an N determination and then thats the end of it.
