then what is islamic culture?joujou_84 said:religion.....
that was the first from the 80 quotes u quoted that u actually got right.....and i dont know wat u find is wrong with it.....if a women leaves her husband and children and spends her time out on the town abandoning them and her religion and duties then she deserves a beating.......however its a last resort......u have to go through sooooo many things b4 u can actually hit her.....so its a last resort..if she fails to starighten up she eventually get a beating....a well deserved one i would imagine...dark_angel said:my point was that i just proved that quotes from the net can be accurate
and i dont know what is wrong with the verse, beating is beating, even if it is lightly or strongly
nothing....we have religion and religion is our life...i guess ppl from different nations might have their own traditions but religion is a way of life.....dark_angel said:then what is islamic culture?
Kulazzi said:Lightly beating is totally different from strong beating. Hence the word "lightly" in brackets from the verse. Don't tell me you don't know the difference. And, it is totally different from the article one.
No, as joujou mentioned it's religion. Oh for crying out loud, you didn't stereotype me as an arab woman did you? Geez man, what people define Muslims these days???? My culture is indian/pakistani if you really wanted to know.dark_angel said:is wearing a hajab culture or religion?
and im aussie so i havent got any traditions......the one thing that binds us all is islam and the quran....Kulazzi said:No, as joujou mentioned it's religion. I've said this before somewhere else and I'll say it again not all Muslims are arabs and not all arabs are Muslims
that's not in this context. It's not beating. You cannot twist your words. And I don't think there's such thing as shooting someone in the arm lightly as opposed to shooting in the head. A bullet is a bullet. It cannot be shot lightly.dark_angel said:wtf? thats like saying i shot someone in the arm (lightly) as opposed to shooting him in the head!
i still shot the guy didnt i???
dark angel........u can slap someone......or u can bash them until u break their jaw and fracture their skull.......there is a huge difference.......dark_angel said:wtf? thats like saying i shot someone in the arm (lightly) as opposed to shooting him in the head!

yes, but a religion is a set of beliefs,joujou_84 said:nothing....we have religion and religion is our life...i guess ppl from different nations might have their own traditions but religion is a way of life.....
we follow the words of the quran.....everything from waking up in the morning to sleeping at night and in between is in the quran ......end of story....dark_angel said:yes, but a religion is a set of beliefs,
culture is " the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group" [dictionary.com]
therefore, religion is essentially culture.
huh, can you explain this a bit more, i'm interested...somechick said:During the times of Mohammed when the Quran was recorded by his scribes, women were attacked by crazy men, literally. As a form of protection, the hijab was worn.
what the?!?!? it dosnet matter if your arab or not, the point is, you still abide by the quran.Kulazzi said:No, as joujou mentioned it's religion. doing beat lightly is okay for eg. hitting lightly on the arm with a rolled newspaper as opposed to fully beating with a belt (completely forbidden). Yes. The Qur'an was revealed just over 1400 yeas ago, which mind you is a very long time.somechick said:The Bible has numerous tales of incest and murder. Look at the major ethical problems of today: pornography, the pedeophiles (even the priests), crime rates.
On the other hand, are you telling me that that's all okay because the Quran has one thing that is not approved by the western (and therefore western ideologies) responder?
omg !!!! are you insane!dark_angel said:yes, but a religion is a set of beliefs,

u still cause them pain, which cannot be described because it is a subjective entityjoujou_84 said:dark angel........u can slap someone......or u can bash them until u break their jaw and fracture their skull.......there is a huge difference.......
It's different. so what, you think slightly hitting on the arm with a rolled newspaper is the same as whacking your wife with a belt? No, I don't think so.dark_angel said:thats exactly my point
