Let me give you a quick run down of hell

The bible says hell is a lake of unquenchable fire where your constantly being burnt, yet not dying... there are worms that eat your flech for all eternity hunger that can never be satisfied, demons permantley tormenting you, screams that never stop, no such thing as sleep..
Yeah i can see what you mean buddy, sounds like a blast (note the sarcasm)

in no way did i even suggest that half the concept of intelligent design should be left out, but i am sugesting that in order for intelligent design to exist, then there must be a form of intelligence that surpasses all worldy intelligence, leading me to the conclusion that there is ONE greater intelligence, therefore, God. The design part should be a granted, when an intelligence of that standard exists, why not create something as intricate as earth and its inhabitants...
Have you read the bible?

Wow that sounds like a pedestrian level attempt at scaring kids.

Or that's what the bible says. The same Bible which tells me that Noah collected two of every animal and put them on the one boat for 40 days, and none died.
The same Bible that tells me that the Earth and the universe was created in seven days, for no apparent reason.
The same Bible which tells me that it's woman's fault that there is evil and suffering in the world, as their ancestor was weak enough to be seduced by a talking snake who offered her a forbidden fruit.
Yeah.
I'll take my chances.

BUT YOU YOURSELF AGREED THAT INTELLIGENT DESIGN IS A FALLACY, AS IT IMPLIES THAT COMPLEXITY IS AN AIM FOR AN ENGINEERED DESIGN.
You're going around in circles.
The design part of your theory doesn't work, so there's not much point believing in an intelligence that did it, because nothing was done.

U know what i cant understand, is why there are so many people dedicated to proving god doesnt exist, fair enough beleiving he doeswnt exist but going to the lengths some people are doing here to prove he doesnt exist is just sad (and in my opinion wrong anyway), especially since there is no way any of us are gonna prove one way or the other. There has been thousands of debates before this one with no out come.
As i said before why not try and find out for yourself if god exists by trying to talk to him and follow him, see if he does exist, then if you find he does, follow him. If u find he doesnt go live your life however u want. Doing this will have wasted a short part of your life(if u find he doesnt exist) but will have saved your life (if u find he does exist), and then u will know at least for yourself the truth. :D

We're not trying to convince people that god doesn't exist, we're mostly just pointing out flaws in their arguments for his existence.
Most of the atheists on this thread acknowledge the fact that God cannot be conclusively proven or disproved.
My personal problem is with ignorance and organised religion, not with God.

i dont know that i agreed on intelligent design being a fallacy, your use of big words has confused me, im merely a simpleton... but what i believe i agreed to was the idea that a greater intelligence designed an earth, NOT for the sake of being complex... The idea of complexity was never the aim, the designer made a design which was far below what he would consider complex, therefore his purpose was not complexity... the intelligence that this requires constitutes the meaning of the phrase "intelligent design"

there is no design
or designer
the world isn't designed

complex things don't need a designer
ffs of course it's not fucking designed are you crazy it's a giant rock in space with life all over it how could anyone possibly think that was desiigned, it's not a fucking building it's a planet ffs

no one would believe this shit if they weren't desperate to defend their religion from the inner conflict that comes from knowing their holy book disagrees with reality in so many ways -_-

Unless of course they believed it so passionatley that they would go to any lengths in order to defend what they have based their life upon...

Only a fool would look around and suggest that a place earth just 'happens' to exist, there is no way life could be sustained without a greater desgin... where did the "massive rock" come from, how did the life start, where did the universe start, try thinking outside of your own immediate context, or you coud just try swear some more, maybe then people will listen:)

First of all, i believe that only a fool can look around himself and believe that there is no grand designer for everything that exists, there is no possible way that the universe or even we would be alive if it wernt "meant 2 be" for want of a better term. As for proof, i cant offer physical evidence it is more a "believe then see" situation for me, i know how my life changed and thats all i can offer.
The old testament runs from the beginning of time. Gensis even said that god created the heavens and the earth. initially there was no possible doubt that God existed because Adam and Eve walked in the Garden with him everyday, leaving no form of doubt to the existence of one God who deserved to be followed.
When Sin entered into the world, thanks Eve, the truth became distorted and God didnt show himself daily anymore, leading to people doubting his entire existence. That leads us to Moses recieving the The commandments on the mountain.

Think thats about it lol
lol thanks for the fairy tale. Was running out of stories for my little bro.

..massive rock?

What I hate is hxc Christians who try to defend their faith.
Its faith. If yours is strong enough the existance of science and scientific arguments means nothing.

What I hate more is hxc Christs who try and defend their faith when they know nothing about the counter arguments.

Until you know and appreciate both arguments and stand points, I really don't think you're in position to defend (pointlessly) your faith or lack there of, for that matter.

Just as annoying as psudeo scientists around the 15-19 age bracket who think a year 10 study on evolution gives them the authority to definitively state to any and every one that God is a fallacy.

I was raised Catholic. I believe in God.
I also believe in science and scientific theory.
I think it was St Augustine who said something along the lines of, God gave us the ability to think and rationalise and that, in the changing world, is what we must do. I'll find the exact quote momentarilly.

Where did your god come from?
"He's always been there"?
Well then so has the large rock.

Aimed at me?
I was stating that intelligent design is wrong, not that God is.
And that's intelligent design as in "the world is only 6,000 years old and we all descended from a man and a rib-woman."
Not "God made the Big Bang happen".

Heres the exact quote I was thinking of;

"Augustine took the view that the Biblical text should not be interpreted literally if it contradicts what we know from science and our God-given reason"

And this is how I stand on God and Science.
I don't have to choose, so I wont.

Alot of this religion business sounds like fearful reverence. Some of it seems black and white...The shades of grey are the ambiguities in between

Lol I'm getting a Hollywood Movie trailer out of this. Let’s bring back Don Lafontaine…

In a World where there was no God (Boom-Boom)

No Freedom…No Time…. (Boom-boom)

A World where we must fight to survive. (Tss-tss-che-che)

One book talks of a lake, a fire, so unquenchable that you’re constantly being burned alive… (Aaaaggghhh)

One Man must conquer his demons, silence the screams. He tore worms off his flesh for a living, but even an eternal hunger for pain couldn’t prepare him for HELL. (Hit Slipknot soundtrack… “I am a World before I was a Man. I was a creature before I could stand…Before I Forget”)

This Summer, Keanu Reeve’s leads an all-star cast and prepares you for a mortifying adventure. He won’t STOP. He won’t SLEEP until he is SATISFIED.

Morgan Freeman. Brooke Shields. Meagan Good and Will Ferrell-

“Welcome to paradise boy…”

(Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo)

(BOOM)

Most Christians would have a lot more respect if they believed in the Bible, though believing in the old testament as teachings on morality and ethics rather than a literal interpretation of how the world began. Or you can take it literally, I guess, and lower your intelligence to levels rivaled only by Sarah Palin.
