hey! ive been searching the net for FOUR hours for this, lol. [well, i found one site but it kept saying "not responding" cuz its a pdf file thing.]

where can i find a site [or if you have information] about the 'digestive system of nectar feeders' ? which includes each part of the system and what it does..

i tried typing "digestive system of hummingbirds, honey possums etc.." but nothing comes up that is relavent... i tried many search engines too.

also, what does "account for the differnt structures with regard to chemical and physical composition of different animal's diets" mean? lol, i dnt get the question.

thanks, kath =]

^talk about how the animals digestive system has become specialised to allow it to absorb the food it eats (eg; a humans digestive system wouldnt be able to cope with a koalas diet - how and why is the koalas digestive system structured differently?)

Type "nectar digestion" into google, that gives heaps of results

this looks good^

i'm doing something similar.. I have to do a comparison between the digestive systems of 3 different mammals and nectar feeders are part of it..

I got some info from the excel books..its around a paragraph.. duno if it will of any help to u..

'
The honey possum feeds on pollen, nectar and insects. It has slender long incisor teeth and flanges on its upper and lower lips that form a channel through which a very long tongue is retracted. The digestive system is special in that a diverticulum branches off the stomach and serves as a storage container for nectar. Pollen does not appear to pass into the diverticulum but appears to be digested in the small intestine. There is no caecum. ' ( From Excel Preliminary Biology page 34)

hope that was helpful XD
