Difficulty getting a "shy" guy's attention. (1 Viewer)

Ugh, I couldn't think of a thread title.

There's a guy I love
-who all chicks love,
-who actually fits the description of the kind of guy I want
-who I discover *could* be a major player and loves to flirt with chicks but sometimes gets embarrassed/shy at trying to pick up so he isn't that much of a player,
and I really want him, but I don't think I know him well enough to tell him that he can pick me up anytime () and that I want him so bad. I don't think he likes me in that way, but guys are sometimes difficult to read and it could be that he doesn't want to hurt me so he doesn't flirt with me or talk to me often. Maybe he feels shy around me. So, what do I do in such a situation? Should I just try to flirt with him and try to get a response from him? It's difficult because he is always surrounded by friends (it's been ages since I've seen him alone).

(NB: This isn't me, it's a friend of mine who is going through this. It just sounds easier to say "I".)

Tell him how you feel, that might work. but if he's shy get him alone first and try to speak to him in a place he's comfortable in.

Yeh quite right, that book "He's Just Not That Into You" is quite good, but I know some waaaaaaaaaay shy ppl and it kills them to even say 'hi'. So maybe just try and get the fella alone and say how you feel, yeh. And if he tells you he doesn't feel the same, you can: a) scream "LATE APRIL FOOL'S!" b) smile creepily and say 'that's ok...' and then stalk him, or c) say "WOAH. WAIT! You're not 'insert-randoms-name-here'!" Then run away.
All options probably work.
