Are the different types of employment contracts:

-Formal agreements
Can take the form of:
• Award
• Enterprise agreement
o Australian workplace agreements (AWA’s)
o Certified Agreements

-Informal agreements

I'm not sure if AWA's exist.. and if that is all the employment contracts in Australia.

I'm also trying to gather information about the advantages/disadvantages of each type of emplyment contract. Anyone have any good links?

I'm pretty sure that's about it. AWAs still exist because some people signed them already before Rudd decided to ban them. So in effect, the AWAs are phased out only when all contractual obligations have ended (in said AWAs).

sounds like your doing the same assignment as i am

the guy above has the right list of employment contracts:awards, enterprise agreements and common law contracts

if your getting your notes from a textbook, it will be out of date because the new laws have only just come in (1st July 2009)

you should go onto the fair work australia website, and it will give you an overview on awards and enterprise agreements

also cheack out this site for advantages and disadvantages: Australian Workers Union Greater NSW : Your Rights: Employment Contracts , although, it might be a bit out of date

common law is the hardest thing to find info on because its not regulated by the government, so it won't be on the fair work australia site, so you need to search the internet for info on this one - but its just a basic contract of employment

hope this helps :)
