Difference between higher subjects (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I'm doing this degree: UNSW Handbook Program - Engineering/Commerce - 3715

Now,

I can choose from:

• MATH1131 Mathematics 1A (6 UOC)
• MATH1141 Higher Mathematics 1A (6 UOC)

• MATH1231 Mathematics 1B (6 UOC)
• MATH1241 Higher Mathematics 1B (6 UOC)

• PHYS1121 Physics 1A (6 UOC)
• PHYS1131 Higher Physics 1A (6 UOC)

What are the advantages for choosing the "Higher" subjects because they appear to count exactly the same as the "easier" counterparts.

If I understand this correctly, if I choose the "Higher" subjects, I'd be doing more work for nothing? Is that right?

You would be doing more work to satisfy your academic curiosity and learning at a level that would be more suited to your (crudely put) intellect.

HSC students swearing by scaling and marks - so you should also know higher subjects tend to scale better provided you do well enough.
