A physics student performed a first hand investigation to compare the quality of reception of AM and FM radio waves.

Which row in the table gives the inde. and dep. variables in his investigation?

Independant / Dependant

(a) type of signal / place where measured
(b) quality of reception / type of signal
(c) type of signal / quality of reception
(d) place where measured /quality of reception

At first I was like "easy, it's C" but now i'm not sure whether it's C or D
Any help would be much much much appreciated!!

I would say definitely C. because remember, you are only meant to change 1 variable at the time.. since you are comparing AM and FM, that is the variable (type of signal) that you must change. and as you can only change 1 variable, your not meant to change the location as well at the same time.

ps. isn't this physics(or science in general) not maths?

The question was actually out of an senior science exam I sat on Thursday, I choose to circle "C" as the correct answer but was just wondering about it afterwards..

In "C" AM/FM is what you change...whilst in D, the location is what you change.

Or have i totally misinterpreted what you're trying to say ><

Oh btw, I know it's a senior science question, but I posted a question in that forum the other day and didn't get a reply...I don't think that part of BOS is used very much anyway...
