can i defer a semester online or do i need to go into the student centre\\also, i heard the census date already passed does that mean if i defer i will get academic penalty?

Call the student centre or something.

Census date is 31 August, so you can still withdraw without academic or financial penalty. I think to defer you have to go to your faculty office and fill out a form to temporarily suspend your candidature, but I could be wrong.

You'll need to fill out a 'request for suspension' form from the faculty of Arts, it's in the quad somewhere.

ive thought about it for a long time ben, i think its what i need to do. i don't have control over the thing that'd help make things different.

ill still be at suv though since ive paid my rent up until end of year.

ill be on campus still and stuff
