I had no idea about the 2nd laser question. What did you all write for the Einstein light as a constant speed question? Was surprised there was nothing on AC motors.
it says that light is intensified but current was not detected. I talked about photoelectric effect for electron flow. then said the work function and threshold frequency of the metal. then energy and frequency is proportional in a photon. then photon transfers all or none of it energy. Intensity depends on the amount of photon not the energy and frequency so if the frequency and energy of light was not equal or more than work function and threshold frequency of metal then photoelectric effect will not occur and thus no production of electrons and current is not produced.. somewhere along those lines. more elaborated though

What was this question deloso? sounds a complicated one.hehe

Re: Question on difficulty of CSSA physics

My test was like 50% ideas! sometimes I wished we did CSSA! would you remember any of the higher order mark questions?
discuss ac dc war with westing and edison and how ac provides eddy currets. production of eddy currents, it's uses and problems.

Uses of superconductor and it's impact on society and environment

and just short answers throughout.

Yeah after that 8 marker there was a 6 marker on superconductors and their use. Then there were was a 4 marker on thomson's experiment and after that I think the highest was a three marker

Also what test did you do?

lol part 1 of the question says calculate energy of a laser and wavelength was given.
part 2 says the laser was shone on a metal which was connected to an ammeter. the intensity of the laser light was adjusted from zero to its maximum however a current was not detected. explain with reference to Einstein's contribution to photoelectric effect.

Thanks for that! was it heavily calculation based?

Re: Question on difficulty of CSSA physics

Also what test did you do?
My school gives us their own paper.. as in they make the test, but they sure did put in a few questions from the 2003 hsc!

Okay
As for calculations there weren't many except one which required a bit of thinking that was on motors

Re: Question on difficulty of CSSA physics

I think I aced the core topics. I just got owned in the option one. My physics teacher wrote the option and since I didn't study it... I got owned.

threshold frequency and work function.

Intensity only affects the number of photo currents induced from the photoelectric effect.

Thanks. Was it one to do with Torque? bcs most CSSA papers have some difficult torque questions! wish the entire physics syllabus was just space!

Re: Question on difficulty of CSSA physics

btw what did you guys get for the MC for:

The force on a parallel conductors. 0, F, 2F, 3F ?

No it wasn't torque but it was similar it was current. They gave you B, l, and the mass and they asked you to calculate the force. I think the correct way to do it was by
F=ma
F=BIL
ma=BIL.
They also asked for the direction of the current.

I got 2F, but I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong that was one of the multiple choices that put me of. What did you get?

Re: Question on difficulty of CSSA physics

i got 3F on that one

the wire on the left applies a force of F to the left ( i think it was given)
and the wire on the right pushes it to the left at 2F

so 2+1 is 3

but i'm not completely sure either

Re: Question on difficulty of CSSA physics

Well It can't be zero. And I think that the right answers would be either 2F or 3F because 1F seems kind of less if you think about it logically. But then again I'm not that sure.
