Mandatory sentencing operated in WA and NT but it was removed when the new Labor government took power in 2001.

so for me, if i was to do it, i would choose something really specific, like aboriginal youth sentence mechanisms, the nature of the adversarial system as opposed to the inquisitorial approach in acheiving justice, or maybe even on the necessity for a trial by jury....

Very interesting one.

The term 'rape' no longer exists, it was used as a common law definition of assualt motivated by sexual intent. When we introduce 'gang rape', we open a new definition. The issue of Skaf is highly contriversial one at this stage.

The Appeal de novo if passed by the Supreme Court of Appeal will mean see some emotions flaire.

I like the idea of sending people to work in camps.

One of the many aspects of corporal punishment. There are different applications.

Yes and no. Often this is over-exaggerated or really only displaying the expectations of certain parts of society or of the newspaper (e.g. extreme right-wing/conservative bias). Like talkback radio, you can't really use that as a gauge of real public standards and expectations because often it is only the most racist and bigotted views which are broadcast.
