this may seem like a stupid question to ask but what do u have to do to actually critiically study a text..... what do i have to write about tommorow so they know i critically studied king lear.

does it mean i have to form my own opinion?

generally in critical study u have to show different readings of the text and your own, which im guessing IS your own opinion, you also have to quote stuff from critics from what i understand.
i do cloudstreet so i cant help too much

can anyone else help out????

don't worry i didn't know what the focus of the critical study of texts was either. I asked my teacher this morning and he said i should focus on the language and form of the text and what makes it effective. Also how the context influenced it and audience received it. I don't know if that applies to lear- i'm doing the speeches.
