I will give you a simple piece of advice-think about your audience-which is your teacher, now write something that appeals to your teacher-i.e. something that all of us can relate to, even when we are 30/40/50 years old-hence fantasy and teenage romance and body-image doesn't exactly work for the same reason generally (there are certain exceptions, but unless you are an uprising novelist, don't try it). So to answer your question, YES, creative writing can be anything, however, creative writing that gets GOOD MARKS can't be just on anything.
