In regard to the style of our stories, what are we all trying to write? Are you trying to knock over the judge with a highly philosophical piece? Or tell a simple but effective story?
I'm interested because i'm unsure as to what kind of short story I should write. I want to write something that i'm interested in and am good at writing, but I feel that my concept is too boring and won't be thought highly of. And seeing as i'm an Ext.2 student, perhaps I should be trying show my flare and impress the markers. Just reading a handful of last years entries, it seems my writing might not. Should I risk writing in the style and genre I want to and am half decent at (3rd person/crime/spy/action), or try writing something entirely different?
