I'm totally confused as to which const to do for 2006 - Kelly or Stewart? Reading that little blurb they offered in the paperwork they sent out didn't help me at all, just confused me further.

I like the idea of seminars as opposed to lecture/tutorial format: a little more personal, perhaps, and I've never liked lectures... But I dont think I should base my decision on novelty.

I'm just wondering what others have decided on? I was also hoping Good to Go would grace this thread, and tell me about Kelly and Stewart - is one more competent than the other?

Gah, the confusion! Why couldn't they have just left const as one single full-year subject? That way we wouldnt have a choice seeing public has died, and life would be so much easier...

Help?

sorry MJ i have no idea.

infact i'm more clueless than you. so public law is no more so we're forced to do constitutional right?

and the pre-requisite for constitutional was business law or something which i haven't done.

i am quite screwed.

It's the first year different streams are being offered, but considering Dr Kelly is taking one and Dr Stewart is taking the other, it's a no-brainer really....go the Kelly stream.

I think the reason that a stream was made for Dr Stewart by the Division is to keep him away from Const Law (at least the main stream one).

It's a long story, so I'll just say there have been numerous "problems" with Dr Stewart as a lecturer in the past 3 or so years, resulting in many a complaint to Ros.

Also, try to get in the Kelly tutes, or better yet, McGarrity's if she's teaching this semester.

Thanks good to go, that helped a lot! I'll go for Kelly's then!

IWR, I got that crap too from estudent regarding BUSL. The thing is, those are two of the possible prereq's you need to do const law, however, we've done all the other half-dozen or so. I've emailed estudent, and so I think the process is that they have to change it in their system to allow us to do const because the system is totally screwed.

Dont get me going on how much I am hating estudent this year!

This is why we cannot enrol in LAW314 and 315:

Difficulties enrolling in LAW 314 have been encountered. These have been referred to the relevant Divisions. They are reviewing the situation.

We will update the eStudent Noticeboard when resolution is available. Please check this each day.

Please note that difficulty in enrolling in LAW 314 will preclude enrolment in LAW 315.

I'm having trouble adding units...but I think it might be because I have an outstanding library fine.

I've had trouble with every unit of enrollment, except LAW316 and 317.

Firstly, they wont let me enrol in my 300-level psych units because I didnt do PSY222 (instead I did STAT270, which, last year was a prereq), and so I have to apply for a waiver for all my psych subjects - something which the psych department failed to tell anyone unfortunate enough to elect to do stat or bio in place of PSY222. So now I have to wait for that to be processed before I can enrol in my electives.

Then, theres a bug in the system which isnt letting me enrol in LAW314 and 315 - it says that I cant because I havent done BUSL units. But thats apparently up to the law dept to fix, so we'll see how long that takes.

Grrr....

MJ, they have made psy222 a prerequisite just this year (and rid the bio stat options), but anyone that did stat270 last year are still allowed to do the 300 level psych levels. so you definitely will be allowed to continue and they cant say no. It would be annoying ,though, how you have to ask for permission though as they can only say yes.

Its MJ - too lazy to log in to my account. :)

Yeah, I know, its all fine, they are going to let me, because it was still legit last year. Its just a pain in the ass that estudent has been updated without a thought to those of us who did do stat and bio rather than 222. The waiver process is annoying, and I'm so paranoid I'll miss out on a spot in an elective! :(

i thought we only have to do 314 and 315 this year.

do we need to do those too? i don't know if i can fit those in this year because i still need to do units to finish my arts side of the degree.:(

Its MJ again... I cant wait to get my laptop back and use my own account!

Yeah, you have to do 316 an 317 sometime during your law degree before you can go onto 400 and 500-level law subjects. 314 and 315 are const, and 316 and 317 are property... perhaps you're confusing it with 311 and 312 which is no longer offered (used to be pubic law).

But yeah, long story short, you need to do 316 and 317 at sometime... preferably this year, or otherwise you'll only have those two law units to do next year!
