I read it, it was written by Phil Betts, i'd like to hear from him if he's still posting here.

As far as i got from it, it was true, and would explain why things are quite late in its planning. Furthermore, the article stated it would not be held in the grassy hills, and that it would only be in the Atrium.

And the day has been restricted to MQ students only, i was agasp and totally fucking pissed off at this, how the hell it could happen if the reports are true.

Not happy Di.

for maq students only eh?? that will teach the miserable wenches that choose usyd over maq :p at least it will be less crowded (ive never gone to one, but i might this year).

When exactly is conception day on? i might mark the day in my diary with my own blood, to symbolise the beginning of the death of conception day.. as i fear it will wither into nothingness with this new restirction.... RIP

How can they restrict it to MQ students? They will lose out on soo much money. And can you imagine how disgusting it would be in the Atrium with all those sweaty bodies and vomiting and smoking pot?

What is happening to the MQ we all knew and loved! :(

p.s.I heard from a girl who goes to USYD that they have already introduced VSU there from this semester onwards... has anyone else heard the same? How unfair! I wanted to keep my $178 this semester. I'm so poor.

Within the spirit of spreading the word, and knowing that Phil wouldn't mind, here's an email he sent out on the 1st of August:

Yep, there is definately truth to those rumours [that conception day will be limited to Mac students and the SAM building].

Conception Day 2005 WILL be Mac students only. This was not a SAM decision
but a University management decision. I'm of the understanding that SAM
fought rather hard to keep Conception Day as it was, but the Uni wouldn't
budge. SAM then tried to allow partners of Mac students to attend, but the
Uni management wouldn't allow it.

As for being confined to the SAM building: that was one option floated, but
last I heard it will be in the regular spot, which I believe is as it
stands.

It's obviously disappointing, but it does sort of harken back to what
Conception Day started out as - a big Macquarie party.

What do you guys think we should do? Start a thread on the forum.

Cheers,
Phil
