Computer Science vs Nursing. (1 Viewer)

I really want to pursue Computer Science but I'm not sure how the starting pay to work ratio is and whether it is actually easy to get a decent salary job in Australia (I also speak 5 languages but I don't know if that increases job opportunities). If there is someone who themselves/their friends/relatives have experience with the difficulties and benefits after getting the degree, could you please tell me?

Otherwise my family relative's daughter has become a Nursing Manager in a hospital with Master's in Nursing and I've been told that its less stress and the pay is very good (about 80-100 thousand). Although I hate the idea of working in the healthcare field, I prefer the idea of having good pay and less working hours because I do want to pursue my hobbies on the side.

Even if you are not experienced with nursing, just taking into consideration that in 5 years a student can become a manager earning a low 6 digit salary, is there any field in Computer Science that can compare? I would choose Computer Science any day if it did...

You could also work part time if you wish.

And I also had a question whether computer science is a field where you can go to a higher position. Are there leadership opportunities, chances to be in charge of projects, management positions, ect available? If so, usually do they require higher study or just experience?

compsci money goes a lot higher than 100k depending on ability. yes there are higher positions. no they do not necessarily require higher study.
the jobs where people in compsci work more and on more stressful things are higher paid. you can choose to do a less stressful job.

Cannot answer about effort as the only job I have ever done is an internship. It is not too bad.

Don't know much about leadership opportunities but it is possible to move up ladder of course. Maybe search people up on Linkedln in manager or leadership roles to see skills.

Computer science and nursing are two completely different things. In nursing, you are interacting with humans and listening to the doctors and what medication to take and with computer science you are working with programming and stuff, which one do you want?

Thank you so much! My parents mainly only care about the money so they are pushing me into healthcare. Them knowing computer science is just a different field that still contains a lot of opportunities and chances to make money is very helpful.

If you care most about work life balance, id go for computer science, as long as you like programming and stem based stuff. If i were you i would not really care about your parents opinion as both of these fields have good pay, and its inevitably up to you to make these decisions in life and it affects you the most.
