Yeah right. Those people must be insane.
So the prac is really really hard then
when you did it were the questions similar difficulty as the sample questions...although i highly doubt that

They're not hard at all. If you can do the sample questions and labs with no help, you should be fine for the first 3 or 4 questions.

the 2041 prac is like a gift, but it will take longer than 20min.

if you've done the labs you'll probably finish an hour early
As zoodboog and sunny said, the prac is not that hard. 20mins, however, is a little infeasible in my opinion.

It is probably fairly close to the difficulty of the sample questions from week 13's lab ...

Hello fellow computer scientists! I will be here next year doing a combined comp sci and maths and i was just looking through the handbook and noticed something about comp 2011/2711 and comp2041.

For comp 2011/2711 it indicates 5/7 contact hours, yet here there only seems to be 4? Are there extra classes not listed?

For comp 2041 it indicated 5 contact hours but on here it shows 6 contact hours. Is one not compulsory?

comp 2021 doesnt seem to have an equivalent page so i cant comment on that.

Thanks for any help

Changing from IT at usyd. Shouldnt have a problem getting all but discrete maths credited from first year. I changed basically because I wanted to combine, plus I want a more scientific approach to computing.

edit: so are the changes mentioned in here http://www.cse.unsw.edu.au/~teachadmin/tc/richardbproposal.html definite?

acmilian? isn't that one of those cool guys from sydney uni?

anyway for comp2041, there is 3 hours of lecture per week, 1 hour tut and 2 hours lab, making a total of 6. Trust me not the handbook. I just did that course :)

For comp2011, which will be replaced by similar course, had 3 hours of lecture and 1 hours of tut. Making a total of 4 hours per week. However it should be replaced with a course that have around 5.5 to 6 hours per week where they might just chuck in a lab or two.

For comp2021, it will be a microprocessor course so there will be 2 hours lab and 3 hours lecture. Making a total of 5. Dunno about tut.

Handbook sucks, trust the timetable. No hiddle/optional lecture it is just the uni database is fucked.

Thanks for that gman. And i dont know about cool, but yes i'm making the migration from usyd :)

From the looks of it, comp2121 is the one replacing comp2021, its only 4 hours (2 lectures and 2 lab), but the lecture time sucks, clashes with a higher several variable calculus one. On a better note, its looking like i can get mondays off :)
