Exactly. Like I’m sorry but all we can do is frame the human experience in the lens of the totalitarian dystopia world of 1984, which doesn’t make for a fantastic argument

I feel like there are soooo many layers to 1984, I think its a great human experience text personally

I’ve been trying not to memorise an essay for Common Mod (eng adv) but my improvised essays always come out so shitty! In trials my memorised Common Mod essay scored the least at 14/20 when my others were all at least 16/20.
I wanna give up because I hate our prescribed text so bad (1984) but genuinely what do I even do? Should I just memorise a mid essay so I can use it for anything? Should I made like a bunch of modular building blocks of analysis and piece them together? Ughh

I feel like there are soooo many layers to 1984, I think its a great human experience text personally

maybe it is!! I personally feel like it's very hard to make high schoolers write about a totalitarian regime where the vast majority of us would have never experienced it and can't fathom its restriction, so I feel that many arguments would end up being shallow, but I suppose the whole point of the module is to reveal new insights to the student
it's certainly got collective and individual experiences though! I'm sure there are great arguments and points to be made hehe

I read the book a while ago so I don't entirely remember it

umm tbh it wasnt horrible but not great. I definitely did not perform as well as I could have bc of numerous factors (obv my fault like I applied SO late...) and I ended up overwriting for the first task which took up my time, and I didn't write as much for the second )): But I'm hoping my writing style can save me idk the more I think abt it I keep worrying that my work wasnt good enough

umm tbh...sect 1 was a tiny bit over 1k and the second I honestly dont remember cos I had no time to look buttttt im sure it was less than 800. Also I think for the second section I wrote more on 'for' the policy rather than 'against' (I had like 1-2 points for against lol) and my 'against' section wasnt worded or expressed that well. um first section I think I mentioned more strengths? I can barely remember im so sorry I do remember writing smth abt the data presented that it didnt have a large scope and it wouldve proved his point better (or probably debunked it) if he had included a wider comparison rather than only with e-bikes.

I swear every year the New York times would write an article about the world is turning into 1984. Heck, my former English teacher made us debate him on whether the world is becoming more or less like 1984 (it was a stupid activity).

kinda is tbh everyone just blatantly following news headlines and what opinion leaders say. Clearly thats what happened with trump election cuz if people used their brain they would know not to elect a convicted felon and a proud epstein lover as a president.
