the communist policy china has at the moment is a sort of capitalist inspired communism. nothing at all like what marx and engels proposed. really. it's hypocrisy...but they have to go along with it, abolishing it would fuck everything up. China is not expansionist. If you're referring to Tibet and Xinjiang, don't go there. They were traditionally part of the country.

Meh.. if China becomes a world power I predict we'd just have Cold War II. It'd actually be a lot better than the current hegemonic geopolitcal system we have now. Sure there'll constantly be some sort of paranoia about nuclear apocalypse, but at least you'll see America become a whole lot more democratic again in trying to persuade those supporting China to turn to democracy, as they did with USSR. China is a lot closer to America ideologically than the USSR was though., so that might not happen.

IMO it would be a while before china becomes a dominant superpower, and also i reckon if australia wants to grow economically and become a more dominant nation in the world, we need a bigger population, our population is tiny(20mill). let more immigrants in and relocate them to like WA or somewhere.

Why does it matter if China is communist? As long as it not ruled by neo conservative hawks who intend to bomb the daylights out every other non cooperative country in order to establish friendly governments like Mr George W Bush then why should it matter to people who don't live China?

China is not forcing communism down anyones throat and instead is slowly starting to move closer to democracy as its leaders have started paying more attention to local issues of its people. Eventually China will one day become a democracy after its economic development has spread to all its citizens much like Taiwan or Singapore.

Modern China has never been expansionist, it has only fought to protect the integrity of its historical borders. The only countries in east asia which have a violent militant expansionist past and quite possibly future is Japan and Nth Korea not China.
