Origin clash hardly dents Chaser's tally
Source: http://www.smh.com.au/news/tv--radi...s-chasers-tally/2007/05/24/1179601579335.htmlTHE might of 34 rugby league players in Wednesday night's State of Origin clash may have helped Channel Nine steamroll the ratings of the other commercial networks, but it hardly dented the numbers for the five weedy boys from The Chaser's War on Everything.
The ABC darlings, who were the fourth most-watched program around the nation last week and the most watched program in Sydney, pulled 1.28 million against the Origin game, the No.1 program of the night with almost 2 million viewers nationwide. For The Chaser it was a loss of only 200,000 viewers on the previous week. The comedy show was the most-watched program in the non-rugby league cities of Melbourne and Perth. It followed on from strong ratings from its stablemate, Spicks and Specks, with 1.2 million in the 8.30pm slot.
Aunty's performance was helped by Channels Ten and Seven laying down their guns. Seven swapped the popular Heroes for the film Finding Neverland in Sydney and Brisbane, where it rated just 249,000 viewers.
