hi everyone

is it possible for me to change from standard to advanced in the first term of year 12 (finish yr 12 in 2012) or is it too late? keep in mind that the only exams ive done are common for both advanced and standard so exams arent a problem. Also im really determined to change that ill happily study the year 12 advanced text in the holidays. Would a parental letter be enough to convince the school to change me from standard or is more required? also my yr 11 end of year english results werent that great but im confident i can do advanced.

Check with your school. Really, you're already one term into the HSC course - so it might be too late.

I don't think they'll let you in, unfortunately.

Then they could let you in. If you have lofty ATAR aims, you need to push hard to get out of standard.

I would have thought it'd be too late - as the Preliminary course is supposed to be an introduction or transition into the Year 12 course equivalent. So if you did standard in Year 11, then you should really carry on with standard in Year 12. However, if you did Advanced in Year 11, then the opportunity should be available for you to move down to Standard.
