Honestly idk why ur hating, he’s happy and successful and did what’s best for him?? Ppl who graduate at 22 don’t get rich straightaway, their businesses don’t start thriving from the get-go it takes time.
Ur just acting immature atp, don’t ask for advice if u don’t wanna hear it.
U goofy ahh
U cannot deny that his life would have been better if he just would have done better if he graduated from law at 23 and didn’t have 300k+ debt from med school.
Sure his life worked out in the end after spending 6 more years for a skill that won’t be beneficial for the amount of time spent studying it.

People who say it’s fine r just stupid. U can’t waste ur twenties like that he didn’t even get to enjoy his twenties and started earning late. So no it’s not alright because u can’t spend 6 years and med school to figure out what u like.

No one asked you replicate his life. Enough, you’re blowing this out of proportion and missed the point entirely

Hes got a point though... bro literally deleted his 20s.
he didn't bcz again learning, living life and growing as a person is not a waste. the debt he racked up from med is literally nobody's concern, and with a successful legal career paying it off shouldn't be as miserable as you and synthesis make it out to be

ill be real I had synthesis attitude abt life when I was leaving hs but I've grown from it and he probably will too. wanting to be out of uni by 22 and have a house by 25 is great and all but it's kind of unrealistic, life's not a race and if it takes 3 degrees and 12 years to reach "success" then so be it. hope you figure out your life man

yes it is. 6 years of med school is a waste. How much room do u have during those 6 years to pursue other things u would like.
I’m baffled at how some people are able to sugarcoat this as a learning experience.
Idk about u but idt anyone would want to go through that as a learning experience it’s just a waste of time as u limited ur opportunities

it's not sugarcoating it's the truth

ask anyone who took a while to get to where they wanna be, and they'll say the journey was worth it

obviously no one aspires to do med with the intention of giving up on it 6 years in, but some things you don't know about yourself until you're far in the process

the point we are tryna make is that you will never be happy if you start labeling things a "waste of time".
sometimes you have to experience things you don't like, to find and appreciate the things you do like

while it is true that he did spend 6 years doing a med degree and ultimately didnt really use what he learned, he must have enjoyed it to an extent to complete the degree, not to mention he could then work and earn a decent amount whilst studying law. not to mention the skills you learn in medicine are quite transferable, as is with any degree; eg he would have already developed a good sense of philosophy and great commuication skills, both of which are highly necessary in law.

in the end there really is no rush to find what you really love - it is his decision to take on the debt from med school, and to deal with the financial consequences, but for him it was likely worth it as he eventually ended up in a career he is satisfied in. you dont have to be rich by 25, of course it is great if you pick the pathway that suits you most and you end up happy asap, but realistically this cannot happen for everyone. keep in mind that in many proffesions, including medicine there are several stages - undergraduate studies will not be the same as completing training for a medical specialisation, for example, and a person might enjoy what they learned in university but end up deciding that a specialisation is not for them. this does not mean their decision to pick the specialisation is "wrong" it simply means that they are not truly fit for the job, despite what they think. same goes for postgraduate studies like phds, you will likely be a student for 7+ years, and then if you want to become a professor this process might take another 3 years. so it means that if you are 28 when you finally achieve your goal, that it is a waste because it took 5 more years than if you just did law or finance or whatever ? of course not. and you are completly valid if you start a phd, decide that it is not for you, and then drop out and decide to work in industry. there is not one path to the finish line in life.

No offence, but weren’t you talking about dentistry and medicine yesterday and the ucat? 💀. Law the other day? Biochemical engineering? You realise these are completely opposite degrees and you have to be COMMITTED to do them. It’s not a waste of time because you get experience, what is a waste of time is if you choose a degree you’re not interested in just for the money, and end up not enjoying it because you have no interest or passion at all. If you’re good at your job you’ll get a high salary, but if you’re average than no you’ll be in the same position for your whole life. Let’s be realistic, most people aren’t going to be rich but the sacrifices they make, make them the happiest people in the world.

Nah. Med school is a blast. Work hard play hard.

Agree to disagree. I did engineering then med. Even took a year off to deploy overseas with the army reserve in the middle. I dont regret any of it and loved my uni days. I had some catching up to do in terms of money but I’ve definately made up for that now and wouldn’t trade the experiences I have had for anything. There is more to life than trying to streamline your career path as efficiently as possible. You have to enjoy the process or you’re going to be constantly unhappy trying to chase the next goal (which are endless).
