How much Youth Allowance should I be getting if I earn $304 a week?

Income over $316 per fortnight supposedly reduces your youth allowance by 60 cents in the dollar, so does that mean I should be getting 0.4 x $233 (the full amount I'm entitled to) per fortnight?

Why am I only getting $17 per fortnight then?

wasn't it always 50c in the dollar.

Every $1 over the income bank balance you earn decreases your centrelink earnings by 50c. So, if you earn $100, your centrelink is decreased by $50. Make $1000, and you get $0

is it really 60c though? i searched on centrelink but cant find a single mention of income bank balance anymore that talks about deductions. how strange.

for example: http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/filestores/st010_0511/$file/st010_0511en.pdf

No mention of what happens if you exceed. Wtf? I blame the labour govt.

I think it's 50c in the dollar above some amount (a little over 200) then 60c in the dollar above 300 or so, so if that's the case it sounds like he's getting paid about right.

found on the usyd SRC's website of all places:

Your payment is reduced by 50 cents for
each dollar your income exceeds $236 per
fortnight gross.
For example, if you have an income of $276
gross per fortnight then your Youth Allowance
or Austudy reduces by $20.

may be out of date

oh ok:

For students and Australian Apprentices, fortnightly income
between $236 and $316 reduces the fortnightly allowance
by 50 cents in the dollar. Income above $316 reduces
payment by 60 cents in the dollar. For students and Australian
Apprentices the income test is subject to Income Bank credit.

Yeah so you've got an additional $80 at 50c in the dollar, so minus another $40 and he's getting paid exactly right.
