I'm looking at studying a Bachelor of IT but would love to drop in on lectures for some business/economics classes without paying extra. Is this allowed?

Yes, very few lecturers take attendance - and the few that do (never heard of it for business) do it for compulsory attendance and not making sure only enrolled students are there.

hi, chris from UTS here.
As brent012 states, most lecturers won't mind you dropping into lectures, but if you want to do this for tutorials/labs/workshops you really need permission from the subject coordinator.

cheers
