I was just wondering, what happens if you go well throughout the year in your internal assessments and gain a strong internal rank, but not do as well as in your external HSC exam?

For myself personally, I ended up ranking 4th out of 74 people in my school for General Maths, yet I found the actual external exam very difficult. I studied a lot for it, but my performance on the day was quite disappointing. I know a subject like General Maths scales down immensely, so is there still any hope for me? I am really freaking out. :(

Thanks in advance for replying. :)

Your internal should pull you up.

Since you're 4th internally. You will get your external exam mark and the 4th highest external exam mark, added together and divided by two.

It's difficult to say exactly, but you internal mark could potentially pull you up if your cohort does well externally. But again, given the variety of factors at play, it's very difficult to give a definitive answer. Anything could happen really.
