yeh this is what i got...

y=sqrt(400+x^2)
dy/dx=x/sqrt(100+x^2)
dy/dt=dy/dx.dx/dt
=40/sqrt(400+40^2).3 (when x=40)
=2.68.....

is that right?

Jeez guys calculus is pretty useless crap in the medical and environmental science arena. In fact I've totally forgotten a bout that stuff, what's differential equations again?

Engineering, architecture and a science degree in mathematics will be the only places you'll ever use this.
