Hey guys
can anyone pls explain to me how to do question 9 of the speciment paper? the answer is C, but I don't know how they calculated the 'cash balance,' I thought it was cash sales - expenses but clearly I did it wrong. http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_hsc/pdf_doc/2012-business-studies-specimen-paper.pdf if anyone has any suggestions thatd be great thanks

Add the total sales and minus the total expenses...I haven't even studied business after Operations and it still made sense

You add when it is sales and minus if it is expenses

For Q9 you start with $1000-$500+$1000-$2500
and so on

From a strictly technical perspective that's an extremely poorly worded question/example- but agreed with the above approach that it's the sum of the net cashflows for each period (i.e. cash sales less cash expenses) which should come to $200 as Op pointed out.
