I am planning to do "Essentials of Chemistry 1A - CHEM1011" http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/courses/2011/CHEM1011.html, but I didn't do chemistry in Year 11 or 12 (Don't really like chem), is it highly recommended that I do a bridging course?

I am overseas right now so I can't make it back in time for the bridging at either UNSW or USYD (are they the same?), can I teach myself using the bridging course handbook from USYD http://firstyear.chem.usyd.edu.au/bridging_course/handbook.html , is it enough for CHEM1011??

I emailed the science faculty about it and they recommended me doing "Introductory Chemistry - CHEM1001" http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/courses/2013/CHEM1001.html but most of my stage 2 science courses need at least CHEM1011, I almost feel like I am spending one more semester for no reason :(

Please tell me what you think!! :(

So should study on your own and pick CHEM1011. If it is way too hard for you then drop down to CHEM1001 after a few weeks. Chemsitry is hard for most people, but remember you only need to pass (get 50%)!! I personally am not a big fan of chemistry but 1011 is definitely pass-able if you persist.

I think that's fine. Are you hoping to get the chemistry credits from UNSW for the new degree? If you do low level chemistry like CHEM1001 the new degree might not recognise it. I'm not sure about this but you may not have to sorry about it if you don't have a chemsitry component in the new degree.
