Hi,

I was just wondering, say for example i wanted to do engineering at uws and it was 95, i do the hsc and my atar is 82, but then i get a extra bonus 10 marks boosting me to 92, now i heard some uni still accept you with only a few points below cutoff but however my original mark was 82 would they still accept you?

From what I hear, if a uni accepts you with an ATAR under the cutoff (including bonus points and what not ) it would only be something like 0.05-0.25 (In other words very small)

They probably only accept you, if they still have space in the course, providing all other applicants have been processed.

Firstly, most universities will only give out up to 5 bonues points (but your situation may be different, I'm not aware of it - clearly).

Secondly, if you're below the cut-off slightly, even with the bonus points, and there are still places left in the course after the selectors attend to all those above the cut-off then I suppose they would continue down the line of applicants in an orderly fashion (highest ATAR to lower ATARs) until the course positions are full.

Good luck in your HSC examinations and preceeding study leading up to them.
