Yes, another one lol

Our half yearly english exam includes a seen essay question:

The context of a text will determin both the details of its content as wel as the issues it addresses

Write an essay that explains how the composers of Brave New World And Blade Runner have explored the will as a response to their respective contexts

Im alright at the textual analysis stuff but i never know how to relate it back to 'the wild'. Any ideas?

the question is as generic as it gets

if your good at analysing texts, then you can analyse parts of the text which convey "the wild"? the whole text is about the wild..

FInd examples where it depicts the deterioration of nature and its natural rhythms like the hatchery in BNW, talk about Roy and Deckard (more human than human) which is ironically true. Talk about the savage's experiences in the new world, saying something like how nature is out of place in a world dominated by technology (savage is like nature or what is considered "natural")

those are just a few ideas

Thanks for the help, but how does that relate to context of the composers?

Both Ridley Scott and Aldous Huxley had concerns on the ethics of genetic engineering

For BNW
Mass production of cars: Mass production of humans in the hatchery
Totalitarian views: Conditioning of the world state

For BR
Technology such as computers were becoming rampant: Technology taking over natural world (artificial owls, nature almost completely destroyed as seen in the opening scenes)

Basically, THe composer's both had the same view that humanity's treatment of the natural world was disrespectful and they both give their own perception of where we are heading. i.e a dystopian world

EDIT: REMEMBER that context should ALWAYS be incorporated into your essay for this module even if your question doesn't specify it.
